FOMO – Living God’s Way

FOMO is real, but it is also the strategy of the Satan.  If this is a season where you are struggling with all the things that you are missing out on, maybe sit for a minute and change your perspective.  Is 2020 the year of a divine interruption or a divine invitation?  Don’t let Satan distract you by drawing your attention to what others seem to have, instead, fear the Lord, the source of all blessings, and turn your attention to Him – He has a blessing for you, too.

💜

Psalm 14:3 – They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

On the You Version Bible App, Dr. Charles Stanley has a 10-day plan: Living God’s Way – Only God can help you live a truly extraordinary life.  These are the key concepts:

SURRENDER– This is the starting point – asking God to use you to the fullest so that others will come to know Him and experience His forgiveness and unconditional love. It is helpful to remember that before His exaltation, Jesus experienced humiliation.  Pride was the downfall of Satan; he’s the expert at tempting us to do the same.  Breaking the chains of Pride is work.

Proverbs 22:4 – Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.

John 8:31-32 – Ifyou hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Isaiah 64:6 – All our righteous acts are like filthy rags.

💜

GRACE– Understanding why we need it – The transforming grace of God, His kindness toward us, regardless of our worthiness and in spite of everything we deserve, will ultimately conform us to the likeness of Jesus.

1 Corinthians 6:11 – And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 15:10 – But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

💜

CONNECTION WITH GOD – The most effective way to live – Seeing others and our own circumstances through the lens of Jesus, prioritizing knowing Jesus as Lord, alters our perspective and brings us peace, wisdom, and knowledge.

Colossians 3:3 – For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

Psalms 1:1-3 – Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.

💜

TRUST– Faith in Action – God’s promises are true and His faithfulness is sure.

Romans 8:1 – Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

Numbers 23:19 – God does not lie nor does He need to repent.

💜

OBEDIENCE– It always brings blessings – He wants what is best and knows what is best.  His ways are not to deprive us of pleasure or prosperity but to protect us from hurting ourselves or others. In a sinful world, obedience always requires courage.  Commit to His ways and leave the consequences and blessings to Him.

Psalm 25:10 All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful
toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.

Galatians 6:8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

💜

GOD’S WILL – It’s worth the wait – be patient and wait on the Lord.

Psalms 27:14 – Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Galatians 6:8 – Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

💜

ADVERSITY– He refines us by fire – transformation doesn’t happen without removing our impurities.

Malachi 3:3 – He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness

Matthew 5:8 – Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

💜

PRAYER– This is war on the floor – Appropriating the strength of the living God to get His power into our lives now.  Remember, we are fighting from a place of victory.

Revelation 20:10 – And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Ephesians 6: 11-18 – Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

💜

THE BIBLE – Our sourcebook for life – our belief system governs our lifestyle and choices, it’s the foundation from which we make our decisions and form our opinions. Our system of thinking is accurate if it is based on the Word of God and not on habit, culture, or family heritage.

2 Timothy 1:13 – What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 4:3 – For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

💜

FOMO – the Fear of Missing Out – I have chased after all the things the world has promised, but failed to deliver. What I fear the most now is missing the true blessings that my loving creator can and will deliver… if I just get out of His way!

  1. FOMO. Who knew that it was a trendy new acronym?

You wrote, “What I fear the most now is missing the true blessings that my loving creator can and will deliver
if I just get out of His way!”

I’d like to add my own fear to yours. What I fear the most now is missing the true blessings that my loving creator can and will deliver…if I only choose faith over fear!”

Hopefully others will add their own, “What I fear the most…”
