Lent 2021 – Week 1 Reflections – A Prayer for Focus

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus – Revive us, Lord, so that we may know the liberation we have from sin, so that our lives are restored and that we experience Your presence in a new way.

Do we need more education? No, You did not send a teacher. Even Nicodemus became a follower of Jesus. Do we need more healthcare? No, God didn’t send a doctor. Even Luke became a follower of Jesus. Do we need to fix our government? No, God didn’t send a statesman or politician. The Government will be on His shoulders, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

God sent us a savior – to free us from the penalty of sin, which is death, to give us life both now and in eternity – an abundant life.  God already knows what you need – so ask Him, in prayer and keep on asking Him. Everything is His and He loves us. Look for Him and keep on looking – He will never leave you or forsake you.

Review always where we place our trust, where we find our hope.  When we are hopeless, we forget that we are His children.

Lord – You can do anything and everything even things I cannot perceive. I ask You today to do a new thing in the hearts and minds of Your children – especially those you have brought to my heart.  Bring them the knowledge of abundant life, found only in You.  Strengthen them with the faith found in other courageous Christians – their new family, remind them that they are not alone.  And show me always how I may serve You.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving me.  Thank you, Lord, for showing me that a life without forgiveness, filled with bitterness, is not abundant.  It’s not even sustainable – it is self-destructive!  Help me keep my attention, my focus, on You.

Isaiah 45:22 turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.
