πŸ™ Heavenly Father, speak to us as we listen to Jesus speak to His followers.  Your wisdom is revealed to Your humble servants – therefore, let us lay down our personal issues and our proud hearts so we can embrace the privilege of being a disciple of Jesus. There is so much being offered in these sections of Luke’s Gospel; prepare our hearts and minds to hear Your Word.  Clear our useless thoughts and be with us as read and receive Your truth and Your Wisdom. We pray this in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. Amen.

The Rich Man and Lazarus

There is one section at the end of Luke 16 that hurts my heart – it is the story of the rich man and Lazarus. I equate a hurting heart with being mournful. Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, includes, Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. πŸ’” It is not easy to carry the weight of being both blessed and mournful – reading this story highlights why.

πŸ™ Heavenly Father, we bow before your Word.Β  We ask with humble and longing hearts, that You draw near to us to comfort and strengthen us.Β  We know that Your Word reveals Your nature as well as it reveals ours.Β  While we love Your revelation of Your nature, it is sometimes hard to face our own. Open our minds to see and to cherish Your wisdom; show us ourselves and show us our savior. Β We pray this in the name of our Lord, Jesus. Amen.
