Bible Study Journey – 1/6/19

As you have noticed, I haven’t posted in a long time in regards to the Joyce Meyer book. I realized, after some discussion with some others that this way of doing Bible study wasn’t really working.

I didn’t want to end the study without a final post…so here it is…

This is not the end of our journey together with Christ, but just the beginning, and I look forward to discussing the Bible together again one day, in person, Lord willing.

Job 23:12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Please…make sure you read the Bible EVERY DAY! Even if you are not a morning person, make sure you find even 1 Scripture verse to think about all throughout the day. Read it out loud if you can and really dwell on what the verse is saying to you personally. If you read it enough, you will memorize it too.

Don’t forget to pray and ask for the Holy Spirit daily as well, especially in regards to wisdom while reading the Scriptures and praying.

Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

May dust never be on your Bible, and may you walk with God continually, as this is His desire for you. It is impossible to know God’s will, if we don’t read His Word, and have His Word at our fingertips. It is the main way God speaks to His children. It is also how we walk in victory. It is His Words and the Holy Spirit that gives us the power and grace we need for each moment of each day.

Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Testing the Emotions – 12/2/18

Forgive me for being too quiet…I’m in the middle of taking a test!

Pg 28-29

Psalm 139:23-24  Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

We are told that God tests us, but here, David is praying for God to test him and reveal to him any wickedness.

Joyce mentions, “Trying times are learning times”.

We also know that the more we are tested, the closer we get to God and the more we grow.

So…

Feelings or Decision? – 11/18/18

JESUS, I surrender ALL.  I’m all in.  I’m all Yours!

Pg 27-28

Luke 22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

This is Jesus, in the garden of Gethsemene, the most difficult hour of His entire life here on earth.  This was the moment of His final decision to save all mankind by suffering on the cross, and even worse than that, He was separated from the Father, the first time ever, because of OUR sins!

Jesus told us to pray.  He gave us the example of how we are to live connected with Him.  He showed us victory in action.

If you want to know how…

Jesus and Emotions – 11/11/18

Jesus knows you, loves you, and understands you COMPLETELY!

Pg 24 –  Jesus and Emotions

So, last week it was Emotionless, and this week, I’m thinking it’s ALL EMOTIONS.  From the top of my head, to the bottom of my feet….BUT…JESUS UNDERSTANDS and that brings the utmost relief to my soul, as does confession to Him, my great High Priest, Savior and Lord.

Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Emotionless – 11/5/18

God can break through any hard wall or heart if we will let Him!

pg 23-23

Eph 4:17-19 – This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Joyce talks about here, “unbelievers are so callous and hard they are past feeling.  But in the same verse it says they live by their feelings in sensuality and carnality.”

So…why does that statement also sound like so many believers of today?

Have we bought into a lie that Jesus doesn’t require ALL of our hearts and minds and bodies?

Joyce continues to say, “What is the world’s philosophy today?  ‘If it feels good, do it!’  You and I are not to live that way.”

So…another thought before continuing on…

Is being emotionless past feeling or our hearts being hardened?  It can be, but then I also think that when we are at peace with God, we no longer have to be excitable or have lots of drama to show to the world we love Jesus…..

Fighting Emotions – 10/28/18

The calmness of our soul when we cry out for help and allow God to fight for us!

Fighting Emotions – Pg 21, 22

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Joyce says, “At first it won’t be easy to overcome emotions.  It never is.  When you and I initially begin to break ourselves of any habit, we have a struggle on our hands.”  (Not just with self, but with the evil angels who love to taunt us and make things a bigger deal than they really are)

Emotionalism – 10/21/18

Settle down, God is in control!

Proverbs 18:13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

All I know is that this is the way I was MOST of the time.  I could barely let a person finish their sentence before I began talking.  I was a TERRIBLE listener and VERY emotional about everything probably because even though I know it was a lie, I thought it was all about me.

I know I’ve shared before how often I would hear mom’s voice saying, “Settle down Annelie”.  That is what I needed, a reminder to settle down, where now I rely on the Holy Spirit to settle me down.

Lovely Differences – 10/14/18

God’s law of love – unselfish, sacrificial love to God
and ALL Mankind…

This 4 Basic Personality Types section covers pages 17-20

This quote stands out to me most, “Our personality differences used to drive us crazy until we saw God’s plan in it.”

It’s not always in a marriage that opposites are drawn to each other.  There’s a reason why Jesus sent forth His followers 2 by 2.

Emotional People – 10/5/18

While the storm rages around us, we can be calm when we abide in Christ

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

For this section entitled “Emotional People” I’m reminded that we each have a free will that God gave us.  God gave us a choice.  We can follow our feelings, or we can follow our faith and trust Him completely.  God’s ways are ALWAYS best!

Emotions or God? 9/30/18

A great question to ask ourselves BEFORE making decisions to help others.

Proverbs 1:5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

Emotions or God?

“Emotions should always be submitted to wisdom!”  In other words…”We can benefit one another greatly by being sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading to help in various ways.

Proverbs 19:19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

This section is about tough, but necessary love, something most of us have difficulty with.  This next verse reminds us about tough love.  We know, from experience, that delivering someone or helping someone out without teaching them how to avoid that same mistakes in the future…then it happens again and again and again.  Sometimes the best gift we can give someone is truth and practical advice, and sometimes letting them suffer the consequences of their own actions or sins.
